Imperial College London PhD of Mineral Engineering study

Applications will be processed in both local and foreign students. Rio Tinto PhD student, offered an excellent background for students of engineering, physics or applied mathematics. For more information or registration, contact Dr Stephen Neethling (s.neethling @ imperial.ac.uk). Student Time covers all tuition fees and providing tax-free scholarship of approximately £ 15,590 per annum for the period 2010/2011. AC / C + + programming skills are essential and it is highly desirable that applicants have a background fluid dynamics. The main shortcoming is that it continues to suffer from a lower extraction efficiency than competing methods. Deadline: 1 June 2010

Job Description
This position includes both theoretical and numerical modeling of the dynamics of combustion. The aim of modeling is to determine the physical mathematical models that can shed light on current issues in the design of reliable burning. The main outstanding issue is the relative importance of hydrodynamics (turbulence) in relation to the chemical kinetics of combustion processes. First, they explore mathematical and physical structure of advection-diffusion equation for a reaction typical of combustion processes.
